丸みをおびた体型が特徴的で、赤茶色のボディに青色の筋状のラインがまばらに入っています。別名「熱帯魚の王様」と呼ばれ、円盤状(ディスク)の見た目をしている事が名前の由来となっています。

The Discus has an impressive rounded body shape, with a reddish brown body color with sparse blue streaky lines scattered throughout. Also known as the “king of tropical fish,” it gets its name from its disk-shaped appearance.
