稚魚は浅瀬で行動し、2~3年で沖合に出ます。成魚は岩礁や砂礫底付近に生息し単独で行動します。頑丈な顎と歯でエビやカニの硬い殻も噛み砕いて食べてしまいます。

The fry of the Red Sea Bream swim in shallow water and move out to sea after two to three years. Adults live near reefs and sandy gravel bottoms, and act alone. They use their sturdy jaws and teeth to chew and eat the hard shells of shrimp and crabs.
