白いスポット模様が星のように見える事から「アマノガワ」と付きました。また、学名のまま「プテラポゴン・カウデルニィ」と呼ばれることもあります。

The name “Amanogawa” means “Milky Way” in Japanese, and it comes from the white spot pattern that resemble stars. They are also sometimes referred to by their scientific name Pterapogon kauderni.
