中国原産で、昭和30年代に日本に輸入されました。体色、各ヒレは白色で頭皮のみが赤く、まるでタンチョウツルを思わせることからこの名がつきました。

The Tancho is native to China and was imported to Japan in the 1930s. Its name comes from the fact that while its body color and fins are white,  it has a red marking atop its head, reminiscent of the red-crowned crane.
